House of Fraser – China Project

Project Description

House of Fraser (HoF) is owned by the Chinese Sanpower group, who have a significant retail presence in China, and keen to open House of Fraser stores in China. This project was to provide the UK Head Office Homeware division with QA Senior Management support confirming the Chinese requirements to ensure product compliance and sale of products.

Project Detail

• To investigate and confirm the requirements to achieve compliant Homeware products in China.
• Negotiate a ‘Preferred Partnership’ with two of the worlds largest independent third party testhouses
• To organise in-house training to HoF buying teams and suppliers on:
  • Law and Regulation System.
  • China Standardisation System.
  • Market Surveillance System in China.
• Attend and contribute to the Senior Management weekly China project meetings
• Cross cost and coordinate the testing of Homeware products
• Visit Shanghai and Nanjing, China with the House of Fraser Chinese preparation team to visit:

• • The Preferred Partners Offices
    • Meet the members of their different teams
    • Tour of their Laboratory facilities at two locations.
    • Discuss:
      • Law and Regulation System.
      • China Standardisation System – mandatory GB, industry, and Enterprise standard requirements.
      • Market Surveillance System in China.
      • Product Compliance of Hardline, Textile, Apparel and footwear products.
    • Review real product samples and discuss the related executive standard / protocols, and agree testing programme.

    • to discuss in detail the next steps of the project, and the relabelling and packaging of UK stock to be sold in China.
